INDIVIDUAL THERAPY IN FLORIDA

Reconnect to others. Reconnect to yourself.

Therapy is not about “fixing” you, you are not broken.

By focusing on the therapeutic process rather than trying to "fix" the individual, I help clients develop a deeper connection with themselves, leading to lasting change and well-being. This approach not only respects the client's autonomy but also encourages them to become active participants in their healing journey, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-efficacy.

Some issues that we address:

  • Anxiety and stress management

  • Depression

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Self-esteem and self-worth

  • Heartbreak /End of Relationship

  • Family Conflict

  • Personal growth and self-improvement

how i can help

There are no bad parts.

In my work with individuals, I employ the Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy model to help clients navigate their inner worlds and foster self-awareness, healing, and personal growth. IFS therapy, developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, is based on the idea that our minds are made up of multiple parts, each with its own perspective and feelings, which contribute to our overall mental state.

Understanding the Parts

IFS posits that we all have sub-personalities or "parts" within us, which can be categorized into three main types:

  1. Managers: These parts are proactive and attempt to control our environment and emotions to prevent discomfort and vulnerability.

  2. Exiles: These parts are often the result of past traumas or painful experiences, carrying the emotions and memories we try to avoid.

  3. Firefighters: These parts act in a reactive manner to distract or soothe us when the exiles' pain surfaces, often through impulsive or destructive behaviors.

Process of IFS…

Building a Relationship with parts

Identifying Parts: Helping clients identify and differentiate between their various parts.

Listening and Understanding: Encouraging clients to listen to their parts' concerns and understand their roles and intentions without judgment.

Unblending Parts from the Self

Creating Space: Assisting clients in creating a safe internal space where parts can express themselves without overwhelming the client.

Separating the Self: Helping clients differentiate their true Self from their parts, fostering a sense of internal leadership and clarity.

Healing and Unburdening

Addressing Trauma: Guiding clients to revisit and heal past traumas that burden their exiles.

Releasing Burdens: Facilitating the process of unburdening, where parts release their extreme roles and emotions, allowing for healing and transformation.

Common questions about individual therapy

  • No, I also work with somatic therapy. I am trained in EFT Tapping and can incorporate this into our sessions. Emotional Freedom Technique is a form of somatic therapy that taps into the meridian points in the body. This helps to release the blocked emotional energy that is stored through trauma.

  • Usually I recommend 1 session per week to build consistency. We can tailor it based on your needs.

  • You can schedule a consultation with me first to see if we are a good fit. From there we move forward to scheduling our first session!
